Day before Yesterday I was in Citrix seminar in Kuwait Sheraton Hotel. I will cover technical details of this seminar in my tech blog but here I like to share my other experience.
First of all the administration of this seminar was not so good. The time management was so poor that the breaks between the sessions were either too long to have a nap in between or too short that one even can’t get a glimpse of the topic. Besides time management, the selection of speaker for the topic was not so good. The starting session was good and was well delivered by the designated speaker but the following session (Citrix Delivery platform technical overview) was pathetic. The speaker delivered this topic was unable to convey his message to the audience and was totally out of color. It seems that either the speaker was not well prepared or the slides were way too much for the speaker to cover. Honestly I took a nap in this session because of the boring session delivery. After this we took a break for 10 minutes which was extended to more than 30 minutes for unknown reason, then started the best session of the seminar (Net App, Citrix Integration). The speaker was very well organized and seemed to have a complete grip on his topic. This session was very well delivered but was badly affected by poor time management from the administrators because they called for lunch after only 30 minutes of the previous break and the speaker had to wrap his session quickly with skipping some very important topics. The lunch was very good and was well organized by the hotel staff. After lunch because of our bad luck we faced the same second session speaker for delivering one key session (Xen App optimization) I was totally confused in that session because despite its topic he was covering some other slides which I can’t even recall. It was what I remember was some technical overview of sub-components present is Citrix Delivery platform. The session was same boring as the second session and lacks flow. After this I attended two sessions (NetScaler and WanScaler) by new speaker. This speaker was good then the previous speaker but not so good as compare to NetApp session speaker. The speaker was good in technical knowledge but was lacked in session delivery skills. After this session I was exhausted and was thinking of leaving but the second session speaker announced that there is one more session left covering Xen App administration overview. Luckily for the speaker that he was managed to recover his reputation a little bit from this session and after Q/A session. They have arranged some prices for the attendees and one of them was XBOX
I was expecting to hear my name in draw but unfortunately I was not so lucky and the prize went to some other guy, kudos for him.
Overall the event was average and lacked proper planning and good technical and pre-sales resources.
