Just now i felt very strong earthquake signals in Kuwait. i am living in salmiya i was lying on my couch then suddenly i felt my couch is shaking and moving like a slow pendulum, first i thought i am feeling dizziness but my friend sitting in another room went out and told me that he had also felt the same thing, The earthquake starts at around 1:07 AM approx and lasts for almost 1 min or more i guess. I saw from my terrace that lots of people came out from their buildings for safety precautions, will see tomorrow’s news paper for more details on this.

Rahet Fateh Ali Khan Contribution in APOCALYPTO Sound Trek

Today while browsing internet i came across a link about famous Pakistani classical singer Rahat fateh Ali khan (successor of famous Pakistani singer Nusrat fateh ali khan). According to the information on this website , Rahat fateh Ali Khan has contributed in the sound track of famous Mel Gibson’s movie “Apocalypto”. After doing wiki i confirmed it and also found some excerpt of his “Apocalypto” work on youtube. As Per Gibson “He’s a valuable asset to our soundtrack. His dulcet tones add emotion and drama, and we have a very narrow palette as far as orchestra. We don’t have an orchestra so he is fulfilling a lot of the functions that would usually be supplied by the use of a full orchestra. Just all in one man; he’s a one-man band.” Not many Pakistanis know this, thats why i decided to write a blog on it. Check out the link for details.

Condition of Science Journalism in Pakistan

Pakistan is a country with lots of unleashed talents and very productive minds. The problem here is the lack of support or i must say the hurdles by government and other bureaucratic structure which is preventing the nourishment of research and development culture in Pakistan. One of the area badly affected by this dilemma is science journalism. Aleem ahmed is a prominent journalist in Pakistan having 11 years of science journalism experience. He had written a very good article on this issue which is well worth to read.
